Why was the task completed but no changes were made to the product?

The task shows Completed but the products look unchanged. Here are the usual reasons.

A Completed task did write its changes at the time it ran. If you no longer see them, one of the following usually explains it.

Another task changed the same products afterwards

Two tasks that touch the same field on the same products do not know about each other. The task that writes last wins.

Example: Task A (10:00) changes a title to "Summer Shirt – Sale". Task B (10:05) changes the same title to "Summer Shirt – New Arrival". The product ends with Task B's value.

Fix: open the Product changes table of each task to see what each one wrote, and avoid overlapping product selections or stagger the tasks.

The task was reverted

A scheduled revert, or someone pressing Revert now, restores the original values. Check the Revert status card: Completed with a Reverted on date means the change has been undone.

Someone edited the product manually, or another app did

Manual edits in the Shopify admin and other apps overwrite the task's values just like another task would. Coordinate with your team and check the product's timeline in Shopify.

The edit did not apply to that product

  • A text edit whose result would be empty keeps the original value.

  • Find and replace is case-sensitive; Tee does not match tee.

  • Variant conditions or excluded products leave some rows greyed out in Product changes; those were intentionally not changed.

  • Price methods based on the compare-at price or cost skip variants where that source value is empty.

The task is Partially complete, not Completed

If the badge is Partially complete, click it. The message explains whether products were deleted or changed during the run, or whether your plan limit stopped the task. See Task errors and warnings.
