# Rounding rules

Every rounding option available for price, compare-at price and cost price tasks, with examples.

Price, Compare at price, Price by market, Compare at price by market and Cost price tasks have a **Rounding** list. The rule is applied to the calculated result of each variant. Weight has only the first two rules.

| Rounding                                                  | What it does                                                                                                                            | Example                                |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------- |
| **Round to nearest .01** (default)                        | Keeps two decimals.                                                                                                                     | 10.458 → 10.46                         |
| **Round to nearest whole number**                         | Rounds to the nearest integer.                                                                                                          | 10.458 → 10                            |
| **End prices in .99**                                     | Drops the decimals and ends the price in .99.                                                                                           | 10.458 → 10.99                         |
| **End prices in a certain number** | Drops the decimals and ends the price in the digits you type in **End price** (up to two digits). | end price 95: 10.458 → 10.95 |
| **Round to nearest multiple** | Rounds the whole price to the nearest multiple of the number in **Multiple**. | multiple 5: 123.95 → 125 |
| **Round to nearest multiple, rounding up** | Rounds the whole price up to the next multiple, never down. | multiple 5: 121.00 → 125 |
| **Round to nearest multiple, keep decimals** | Rounds only the whole-number part to the nearest multiple; decimals stay. | multiple 5: 123.95 → 125.95 |
| **Round to nearest multiple, rounding up, keep decimals** | Rounds the whole-number part up to the next multiple; decimals stay. | multiple 5: 121.95 → 125.95 |
| **Replace last digit(s)** | Rounds down to a whole number and replaces its last digits with the digits in **Replace with** (up to six digits). | replace with 9: 71.50 → 79 |
| **Replace last digit(s), rounding up** | Same, but if the replacement would lower the price it moves up to the next block first, so the result is never lower than the original. | replace with 9: 71.50 → 79; 79.50 → 89 |
| **Round whole number up** | Always rounds up to the next integer. | 10.01 → 11 |
| **Keep decimals, rounding down** | Keeps two decimals but never rounds up. | 10.999 → 10.99 |

The help text under the list repeats the rule you selected, so you can double-check it before saving. The chosen rule is also shown in the **Editing rules** card of the task details page and in the confirmation dialog, for example *Price decrease by 20%. Round to nearest .01*.

{% hint style="info" %}
Rounding applies to the calculated result, not to the value you type. If you use **Set to fixed value** with 19.99 and **End prices in .99**, the result is still 19.99.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.samita.io/bulk-price-editor-sami/field-guides/rounding-rules.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
