# Edit a scheduled or manual task

Change the rules, products or schedule of a task that has not run yet.

Tasks that have not run yet can be edited freely. That includes tasks with the status **Manual start** and **Scheduled**.

1. Open **Tasks** and click the task row. It opens in the same form you used to create it.
2. Change the name, the edit method, the value, the products, the variants or the schedule. The **Preview** updates as you go.
3. Click **Save** in the top bar. The confirmation dialog appears only if you switched the start time to **Now**.

{% hint style="info" %}
Not sure a task is set up right? Save it with **Start time: Manual**. You can reopen and change it as often as you like, then start it with **Apply change now** when you are confident.
{% endhint %}

## Tasks that have already run

Once a task has started, its rules are locked and the row opens the task details page instead. To run the same change again, or a variation of it, use **Duplicate**. See [Duplicate a task](/bulk-price-editor-sami/manage-tasks/duplicate.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.samita.io/bulk-price-editor-sami/manage-tasks/edit-a-task.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
