# Revert changes

Undo a completed task immediately or on a schedule, and understand what revert restores.

Every task stores the original value of each field it changes. Reverting writes those original values back.

## Revert now

On the task details page click **Revert now** (in the Tasks list the action is called **Revert**). It is available when the task is **Completed** or **Partially complete** and has not been reverted yet.

All modified fields will be restored to their previous values."><figcaption><p>Confirm revert</p></figcaption></figure>

Confirm with **Revert**. The **Revert status** card shows **Revert in progress**, then **Completed** with **Products reverted**.

## Scheduled revert

When you create a task, tick **Schedule the revert** and pick a date and time at least 5 minutes after the start. See [Schedule, revert and save](/bulk-price-editor-sami/create-a-task/schedule-and-save.md).

After the task is saved you can still change your mind:

* **Reschedule revert** opens a dialog with a new **Date** and **Time**.
* **Cancel revert schedule** removes the scheduled revert. You can add one again later with **Schedule** in the **Revert status** card.

## What revert does

* It restores the value each product or variant had **when the task ran**, for every field the task changed (for example price and compare-at price together).
* It writes those values even if someone changed the product manually after the task. Manual edits made in between are overwritten. See the FAQ [Why do my manual edits keep reverting?](/bulk-price-editor-sami/faqs/manual-edits-keep-reverting.md).
* Products that were deleted in Shopify after the task cannot be reverted. The revert finishes as **Revert partially completed** and the error banner lists the products. See [Task errors and warnings](/bulk-price-editor-sami/manage-tasks/errors.md).
* Tags: tags the task added are removed and tags it removed are added back. Collections and sales channels are restored in the same way.
* Metafields that did not exist before the task are removed again.

## What cannot be reverted

* **Delete product**, **Delete variants by option value** and **Remove product options** delete data permanently. These tasks have no revert.
* A task that has already been reverted cannot be reverted again. Duplicate it to run the change once more.

{% hint style="info" %}
If the task did not run the way you expected, contact support **before** reverting. Reverting writes the stored originals, so we can check what happened while the data is still in place.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.samita.io/bulk-price-editor-sami/manage-tasks/revert-changes.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
