ActiveCampaign

Connect quote form data to ActiveCampaign for automation and segmentation.

Connecting ActiveCampaign means every quote request also becomes a contact you can follow up with, without anyone copying details by hand.

ActiveCampaign is listed under the PRO plan. Klaviyo, Mailchimp and Shopify are the integrations listed under FREE. See Plan comparison.

If your plan does not include it, the Third-party integration list shows a disabled Upgrade button instead of the settings icon, with a padlock beside it. Selecting the padlock explains which plan the feature needs and links to Pricing plans in the app. That is your plan, not a fault.

Step 1 — Get your API URL and API key

ActiveCampaign issues both values from your own account — an API URL and an API key. Find or generate them together before you open the app. ActiveCampaign's own guide walks through it: Getting started with the API.

Copy both and keep them somewhere safe while you finish the setup. The app has a field for each.

Step 2 — Connect it in the app

1

Open the Integrations tab

In your Shopify admin, open SA Request a Quote, select Advanced settings, then open the Integrations tab.

2

Select ActiveCampaign

Under Third-party integration, select ActiveCampaign — described in the app as "Grow your business with ActiveCampaign".

The ActiveCampaign page opens, with a Third-party breadcrumb to take you back to the list.

Pick the service, then open its settings.
3

Turn on Enable

Switch on Enable, the first control on the page. Nothing is sent to ActiveCampaign until you do.

4

Paste both credentials

The two fields sit directly under Enable, in this order:

  1. API URL — paste the URL from Step 1.

  2. ActiveCampaign API key — paste the key from Step 1. Its help text, Find or generate your API key, links straight back to ActiveCampaign if you still need it.

Fill in both. The app only fetches your ActiveCampaign lists once it has the pair, so a page with just the key stays stuck with nothing to choose from. If the list dropdown does not appear after you type, select Merge fields beside the API key field to make the app fetch again.

5

Choose the ActiveCampaign list

Open Select an ActiveCampaign list to integrate and pick the list new contacts should join. Until you choose, it reads "Please select an ActiveCampaign list".

If the app says "It looks like you don't have any ActiveCampaign lists", either the list does not exist yet or one of the two credentials is wrong. Fix that before going on — the field mapping stays hidden until a list is selected.

6

Match your form fields

The mapping rows appear only once the API URL, the ActiveCampaign API key and the list are all set. Read each row left to right:

  • On the left — the ActiveCampaign field, greyed out because you cannot rename it: Email, First Name, Last Name, Phone and Tags, followed by any custom fields that exist on your ActiveCampaign list.

  • In the middle — how the value is supplied: has no value, is dynamic value by (take it from the quote form) or is fixed value by (send the same text on every quote).

  • On the right — the quote form field you are sending, or the fixed text you typed.

So you pick the quote form value on the right to fill the ActiveCampaign field named on the left, never the other way round.

Email is the row you cannot skip — without it ActiveCampaign has no contact to create. Its dropdown only offers email fields from your form, so if it is empty, add an email field to the quote form first. The rest are optional: match First Name, Last Name and Phone to your Contact information fields, and consider setting Tags to is fixed value by so every quote lead arrives tagged the same way.

If a field is marked required in ActiveCampaign and you leave it unmatched, the app flags the row and refuses to save.

7

Save

Select Save. Nothing is stored until you do, and an unsaved page sends nothing.

While you have unsaved changes the app shows a save bar with Save and Discard changes — Discard changes throws away everything you have typed on the page. A Changes saved message confirms the save.

Mailchimp shows the same field-mapping table in close-up. Follow it for the mapping only — Mailchimp needs a single API key, while ActiveCampaign needs the API URL as well.

Step 3 — Test it

Submit a real quote request from your storefront, then check ActiveCampaign for the new contact. Confirm the fields you matched actually arrived — not just the email address.

Is this the right tool?

Strong when you segment buyers carefully and run different follow-up by segment.

If you do not already use ActiveCampaign, do not adopt it just for this — Zapier connects quote data to almost anything, and Create a Shopify customer after submit keeps everything inside Shopify on the FREE plan.

If contacts are not arriving

  • Check Enable is still on. Nothing is sent while it is off.

  • Check the API URL as well as the key. A correct key with a missing or mistyped API URL leaves the connection half-made — the app cannot reach your account, so no list loads and nothing is sent.

  • Check the key is still valid. Regenerating a key in ActiveCampaign breaks the connection until you paste the new one in. Saved keys are shown masked, so paste a fresh one if in doubt.

  • Check you picked the right list. Contacts may be arriving somewhere you are not looking.

  • Check the email row is matched. Without it there is no contact to create.
