Quickstart
Install SA Request a Quote, work through the three-step Setup guide, and watch your first test request arrive in Quote list.
This walkthrough takes you from an empty install to a real quote request sitting in Quote list. It takes about ten minutes and you don't need to write any code.
Who this app is for
SA Request a Quote suits any store where the price is a conversation rather than a fixed number:
B2B and wholesale — trade pricing, account customers, and orders priced by volume.
Custom and made-to-order products — where the specification decides the price.
Services and projects — installation, fit-out, delivery, anything estimated per job.
Large or freight-heavy goods — where shipping has to be worked out before you can quote.
Customers ask for a price instead of buying instantly. You reply with your price, and when they accept you turn the quote into a real Shopify order.
Before you start
A Shopify store you can sign in to as the owner, or as staff with permission to install apps.
Access to your theme. You start the change from inside the app, but you save it in the theme editor.
A rough idea of which products you want to sell by quote, and whether any of them should stop showing a price.
Nothing here needs code, and nothing needs a developer.
The Setup guide does most of the work
When you open the app you land on its dashboard, which greets you with 👋 Hello and "Welcome to SA request a quote by Samita". The Setup guide there — "Complete these steps to activate quote requests on your storefront." — holds the three steps that get you live, with a badge counting them off as n / 3 completed.
Only the middle step is marked Required, but the first one is the one your customers notice: until the app embed is on, nothing from the app reaches your storefront.

Install the app
Open SA Request a Quote on the Shopify App Store and start the install. Shopify shows you the data the app needs before you confirm.
Once the install finishes, the app opens inside your Shopify admin on the dashboard.

Setup guide step 1 — Enable app embed
Nothing reaches your storefront until this is done.
The step reads App embed is disabled, with the line "Enable app embed in your theme so quote buttons and request forms can appear on the storefront." Click Enable app embed, switch the embed on in the theme editor Shopify opens, and save your theme. Back in the app the step reads App embed is enabled.
If you had already switched the embed on yourself and the step still looks unfinished, click the round icon at the left of the step — its tooltip reads Mark as done — to tick it off. Disable app embed is the same step in reverse, if you ever want to take the app off your storefront without uninstalling it.

Setup guide step 2 — Configure quote settings
This step is marked Required: "Customize quote form fields, button behavior, email notifications and draft order settings."
Click Open settings. That takes you to Quote settings, headed Request a Quote. Two sections matter on a first run:
Select quote products — "Select products or collections that should show the Request a Quote button." It shows your current selection. Click Change if you only sell some products by quote.
Customize — opens a full-screen editor with the Button & widget, Quote form, Quote cart page and Success message tabs. The defaults are sensible, so you can come back to this later.

Setup guide step 3 — Set up email notifications
"Learn how to customize email notifications for quote submissions."
Click Open notifications to reach the Email notifications tab of Advanced settings. Turn on Mail notifications so you're told when a quote is submitted, and Auto response email so the customer gets a confirmation. SMTP lets you send from your own address instead of the app's.

Check your storefront
Open your store as a customer and go to one of the products you made quotable. You should see the quote button, labelled with your Button text — Add to Quote unless you changed it.
If Enable Quote Cart Widget is on, a floating Quote (n) button also sits at the edge of the screen.
Check a product page, not a collection page. On modern themes the collection-page button attaches to the theme's own quick-add control, so it only appears when you hover a product card, and it can show as a small icon rather than a labelled button. That is the theme, not a fault.
Nothing there? In almost every case the app embed step was missed — see Troubleshooting.
Send yourself a test request
Click your own quote button and complete the form exactly as a customer would, then submit it. The quote cart lives at /pages/request-for-quote if you want to review it before sending.
Signed-out customers see "Already have an account? Log in to auto-fill your contact and company information." on the form, so returning buyers don't have to retype their details.
Find the quote in Quote list
Back in the app, open Quote list from the navigation — or click View all in Recent activity on the dashboard.
The page is headed Quotes, and your test request is in the table with its Quote ID, Customer, Company, Created at and Status. The Actions column gives you four things per row: download the quote as a PDF, send an email, duplicate it and delete it. The All, Read, Unread, Order created and Purchased tabs filter the list once you have a few.
If you turned Mail notifications on, the same request is waiting in your inbox.
Reply with your price
Click the quote to open it. The detail page opens, headed Quote # and its number. This is where a request becomes an offer.
The line-item table has Products, Price & quantity and Total. Both the price and the quantity are editable, so you set the figure you are willing to sell at. Search products — with Browse products beside it — and Manage products let you add items the customer didn't ask for.
The Payment panel adds up the Subtotal, Edit discount, Edit shipping, Edit tax rate and Total.
When the numbers are right, the actions at the bottom of the page are Mark as unread, Mark as paid and Resend an email. Convert to Order and More actions sit at the top.

You're set up
Your store can now take quote requests. These are the things merchants usually tune next.
Ask for different details on the form
Hide prices so customers have to ask
Change the button wording and colours
Where everything else lives
The rest of this documentation is grouped the way the app's own navigation is grouped.
Collecting quote requests
Where the quote button appears, what clicking it does, who can see it, and which products show it.
Hiding prices
Hiding prices, and hiding the Add To Cart and Buy Now buttons so asking is the only way forward.
Storefront quote pages
The quote cart page, the quote history page, and quotes inside customer accounts.
Managing quotes
Pricing a request, sending the quotation, converting it to a draft order, PDFs and CSV export.
Emails
What you and your customers are sent, who is notified, and sending from your own address.
Three things have no step in the Setup guide, so they are easy to miss:
Cost management — the Discount, Shipping and Tax tabs that decide the numbers on a quote.
Customer account — puts a customer's quotes into their Shopify account pages.
Advanced settings > Translations — "Translate everything your customers see — quote form, storefront text and both quote emails."
General settings is the map of where every setting lives.
If you get stuck
The dashboard has a Need any help? section with three routes out: Learn more for this documentation, Contact us for email support, and Start chat for live chat. You can also email support@samita.io directly.
