Setting up sale prices for products

Show a crossed-out original price next to a discounted price on individual products, without a discount code.

You can manually put an individual product on sale in Shopify — no discount code needed — by setting a lower price and keeping the original price visible as a strikethrough.

Steps to manage

Open the product

From your Shopify admin, click Products, then open the product you want to put on sale.

Set the sale price

Scroll to the Pricing section and enter the new, lower price in the Price field (for example, $90).

Set the original price

Enter the original, higher price in the Compare-at price field. This is what shows as the crossed-out price next to your sale price.

Save and preview

Click Save, then click Preview on the product to confirm the sale price displays correctly on your storefront.

This only changes how the price looks on the product page. To automatically show wholesale or volume discounts to specific customers, see Create a wholesale pricing instead.
